Gene Zipperle Talks Transportation Law on Dave Nemo Radio Show

WHT Member Gene Zipperle was the special guest speaker on the Dave Nemo Show on Sirius/XM radio on April 4, 2018. The show was a close look into the Crash Preventability Demonstration Program on “Protecting Your Livelihood”.  The show reaches a nationwide audience of about 1.5 million listeners.

Gene spoke about the pilot program recently established by the FMCSA allowing motor carriers to challenge violations off crash citations on their BASIC score. There is a certain list of crashes that the government will consider non-preventable (such as being hit by a drunk driver). If a motor carrier were to challenge a crash noted on a BASIC category, and the FMCSA were to find the crash preventable, this could have a negative impact on a subsequent lawsuit.

The Dave Nemo Show is on Sirius/XM channel 146 weekdays from 7-11am. The show’s mission is to keep professional drivers and stakeholders informed of current and pending issues that affect the trucking industry, ranging from transportation legislation to health and wellness.
