WHT attorney, Laura Myers, has been commissioned as a First Lieutenant with the Army National Guard JAG Corps. As a Judge Advocate General Officer, Laura will act a legal resource for soldiers, units and the State Adjutant General.
Laura will be attending the Direct Commission Officer Course in Fort Benning, GA for approximately six weeks, starting on October 8. This is an overview of soldier skills and military leadership. She will then have to report to Charlottesville, VA to attend the military law portion of training, which will last about ten weeks. This course is located on the grounds of the University of Virginia adjacent to their law school. During this phase JAs will receive instruction on the organization, function, and mission of the U.S. Army JAG Corps, an overview of the practice of law in the U.S. Army, and military training of all the core legal disciplines.
