Clay E. Thornton joined WHT in 2021 as an Associate Attorney in the Lexington office focusing on civil litigation defense. Prior to joining WHT, Clay gained valuable experience working for a regional firm in insurance defense litigation as a law clerk throughout law school.
After graduating from the University of Kentucky Honors Program as a Presidential Scholar with degrees in Accounting and Economics, Clay went on to receive his J.D. at the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law, where he served as Vice President of the Moot Court Board and as a member of the National Moot Court Team, competing in the New York Bar Association and American College of Trial Lawyer’s 71st Annual National Moot Court Competition. Clay was an active member of the Kentucky Law Journal, serving as a Senior Staff Editor. He was nominated by the Editorial Board as the Best Third Year Senior Staff Member.
